We are currently seeking a skilled Estimator to join our reputable roofing client based in Rayleigh, Essex. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing precise and comprehensive cost estimates for roofing projects, ensuring profitability and competitiveness. Your key tasks will include analysing plans and specifications, conducting site visits to assess conditions, sourcing materials and subcontractors, and submitting compelling bid proposals to clients. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and stakeholders to provide accurate budget forecasts, maintain a detailed database of cost data, and assist in cost control throughout each project. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of roofing systems, excellent analytical skills, and strong communication abilities, enabling you to deliver accurate estimates and foster client relationships effectively.
- Proven experience in roofing or construction estimating
- Strong understanding of various roofing systems, construction processes, and industry standards
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail
- Experience performing quantity take-offs and site assessments
- Proficiency in estimating software and data management tools such as Excel, Word, and Bluebeam
- Ability to create Bills of Quantities (BoQ’s), schedules of work, and written quotations
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for liaising with clients, suppliers, and colleagues
- Experience sourcing and managing suppliers and subcontractors
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and project documents accurately
